Storm (2022): Forces Beyond Control

The Storm Collection was born at the end of the global pandemic, after 18 months of creative block. During this time, my world shifted, and these paintings became my way of navigating grief, illness, and transformation—of trying to understand the uncontrollable forces of life, nature, and the body.

Layered ink washes and fragmented figures mirror the turbulence of that time. The works are visceral, gestural, and deeply emotional—storm clouds that both obscure and reveal. Once again, I drew inspiration from dancers and gymnasts, using photographic archives to capture fleeting poses and reimagine them in ink and paint. Each figure feels caught in motion, like a body weathering a storm.

Storm is a collection about fragility and resilience, about what it means to stand in the eye of chaos and still find moments of clarity and grace.
