Warriors & Shadow Paintings (2018-19)
The Warriors and Shadow collections were created side by side, both born from my first years painting in Paris after nearly a decade away from the studio. Together, they capture a turning point in my artistic journey—one of rediscovery, risk-taking, and bold self-expression.
The Warriors paintings are full of raw energy: blocks of colour layered with acrylic, oil pastels, and gold leaf create vibrant, textured surfaces. These works reflect the courage of starting again, of questioning identity and place, and of celebrating strength in all its forms.
The Shadow paintings evolved directly from that intensity, distilling the same themes into something more refined. With clean lines and a sharper focus on composition, Shadow explores the beauty found in contrast—where light and colour bring depth to darkness. Rather than using black, I painted shadows as I saw them: alive with warmth, brightness, and unexpected hues.
Seen together, these collections speak to growth and transformation. Warriors holds the fire of beginning again, while Shadow reveals the clarity that follows. These are some of my earliest Paris works, and each remaining piece is now available as part of this archival studio sale—a chance to own a rare artwork from a formative chapter in my journey as an artist.
